MEXICAN MINUTE LA PAZ VIDEO FISHING REPORT
THE BIG PICTURE and the REST of the STORY…

Nick Lowe from Sacramento has been chatting with us since about 2019 and finally came down and got his big rooster fishing with Captain Victor. Fish was released!

Darrell Manginelli always does well coming to see us several times a year. He boated and released two sailfish while using his spinning rod. He was with Captain Pancho. Both fish were released.

First-timers Tony Duran and Leo Fong from Fresno CA with Captain Armando show off one of their dorado . Early in the day, Tony hooked about an 80 pound yellowfin tuna that broke off.

Captain Victor seems to be struggling a bit to hold up Lorena’s fish for the shot! They hooked and released 3 nice fish this day!

There are a few nice dorado showing up . San Diego’s Bob Francy had a nice two days of action fishing with Captain Gerardo

Slow day but Capt. Armando stayed out a little longer. They guys got roosterfish early and several decent dorado after having a slow several hours.
TWO DAYS…18 Roosterfish!
Bob Francy and Eric Graff only had 2 days to fish. They were just hoping to catch ONE roosterfish…fingers crossed. They hooked and released 18 fish between 40 and 90 pounds fishing with Captain Gerardo .

Bob has another one! First day Bob got 8 of the 10 fish. All released. Day 2 it was Eric’s turn to rock!
Little video clip of Bob with a catch and release and a look of being a bit tired!
____________________________________
Those pesky northern winds came back on us this week just to give us one more kick in the pants that we’re not quite out’ve the woods yet regarding the weather. But, these days there are more calm days than blustery days, but this past week, we had 5 days of 20 knot northern winds.
That makes it hard to fish. Hard to get to certain areas. Hard to get to the live bait or even hard for the bait guys to catch live bait if it’s too rough.
But, all that being said, we still found ways to have some fun and get some action.
Thankfully, it seems the bigger roosterfish have finally shown up! These are the big boys that folks come from all over the world to catch. Using big 12″ live sabalo for bait, these fish are generally really close to shore and were running 40 pounds our more. Our largest were 80 and 90 pound fish estimated by my captains. All fish were getting released.
Also found a few scattered dorado. Not alot. It’s not quite dorado season yet. We need to wait until the waters warm. But, the few we hooked were legit 15-25 pound fish. Mostly solo free-swimmers rather than school-fish. Hopefully, those show up soon. The fish this week are isolated prowling mahi.
Surprisingly, billfish have shown up early as well. Especially around Cerralvo Island, we’ve hooked some stripers and some sailfish, but I am hearing sightings of larger blue marlin also swimming in the area.
No wahoo this week, but my captains say the conditions look right. We did hook one big tuna off the south-end of Cerralvo Island, but it broke off after about a 20 minute fight. Again, just one isolated fish.
Inshore, there are pargo, cabrilla, snapper, dog-tooth, an occasional yellowtail or amberjack, bonito, jacks, triggerfish, rainbow runners and pompano.
The weather was a warm hazy sunshine week with highs in the mid-to-upper 80’s. Nights are really pleasant about 66 degrees. No real humdity…YET!!! (It’s coming!)
