La Paz – Las Arenas/ Muertos Bay Fishing Report from Tailhunter International for Week of Dec. 6-13, 2015

A nice time to be in La Paz. It’s pretty quiet these days. The city returns to being a sleep beach-side pueblo in many respects. I think it’s that lull before Christmas.  The video was taken from the 2nd floor terrace at out Tailhunter Restaurant.  Not exactly rush hour traffic.  Sun’s out and it’s breezy but some days can be very windy.

This is about how choppy and windy it is…even in our normally flat water bay! This photo is from Baja Joe’s over in Sargento. This is their high season.

A view of the new CBX pedestrian bridge that just opened up this week that allows passengers in San Diego to check in and now walk directly from San Diego to the new Tijuana Airport making it even easier now to fly to La Paz, and other Mexican destinations, especially for S. Californians.

NOT MUCH HAPPENING – Fish and City Hunkered Down for Navidad

La Paz – Las Arenas/ Muertos Bay Fishing Report for Week of Dec. 6-13, 2015

Not much to tell you this week.  About the only ones who seem to be having a great time on the water are the windsurfers and kite boarders who come down this time of the year specifically because it’s windy.  They’re having a great time and a big reason they flock to the area.  But, their high-season, is also the reason it’s the off-season for fishing.  It’s chilly and windy!  That area between Las Arenas and Cerralvo Island is like a wind FUNNEL making it world-class for the windsurfing crowd.  When the winds die down, and they leave is when the fishermen start rolling back in.  So, yea…good wind are blowing…again!

And, generally that’s how it was this week again as it has been now for over a month.  We didn’t  have many anglers this week and when we did, well…it was windy.  And wind and fishing usually aren’t a good recipe for fishing success.

There were some small cabrilla and pargo caught.  We did have two marlin hooked that got off.  Some bonito and trigger fish and that was about it.

As I said, not many fishermen these days and town is quiet.  Peaceful.  Very nicely so, in many respects.  It might surprise many of our regulars.  Not much traffic.  Everyone is getting ready for Christmas.   It’s a good time to be here. Even if you’re not fishing.  Or catching.  Still beats working.  Just come and hang out.  And escape the snow, rain and cold from wherever you area!

NEW SAN DIEGO / TIJUANA AIRPORT BRIDGE FINALLY OPENED!

The Cross Border Xpress (CBX) will operate just like a regular terminal on the U.S. side where you check in then walk across the bridge to the Tijuana Airport already checked in!

The new CBX pedestrian bridge just opened this past week to much anticipated fanfare.  It’s great.  So many folks take advantage of flights out of the new Tijuana Airport for great flights direct to La Paz and other Mexican destinations.  Previously, you had to take a shuttle or taxi across the border; drive yourself; have someone else drive you; or take a connecting flight from somewhere else.  Not always the most convenient.

With the new bridge, it’s just like an extension of the Tijuana Airport.  You can part on the San Diego side.  There’s long-term parking.  You can check in at the terminal just like normal.  Then, there’s a small toll to walk across the bridge to the Tijuana Airport to board your plane.  Easy!   This will be great for us in La Paz.

Here’s more info about it.  Click the link:

Have a great week!

 That’s our story!
