Captain Gerardo’s clients didn’t want their photo taken with their striped marlin, but they did want a photo of their fish so he shouldered the task. Not the close proximity to the Las Arenas in the background.

Israel and Manuel just figured to go out and catch some nice inshore fish for dinner. They ended up with a surprise sailfish and this marlin. The sail was released but could not release the marlin.

Those of you who know our famous Captain Pancho, he took his son, Francisco, Jr. (Panchito) out fishing this week. The 11-year-old got himself a marlin this week as well!

Just a big “MUCHAS GRACIAS!” to all our new and old Montana amigos who stopped by our booth to visit, say hi and set up their La Paz fishing trips. Thanks for treating us so well! We’ll be back!
BILLFISH IN JANUARY?
La Paz – Las Arenas/Muertos Bay Fishing Report for Week of Jan. 3-10, 2016
We finally had a pretty OK week as far as wind is concerned although it was still a bit blustery. As storms slammed into California and other parts of the West and other areas of the U.S. there’s usually an affect down in Baja and this week was no different. But, there were actually some “windows of opportunity” to get some fishing in. The only issue…there’s not many fishermen in town. Snow birds…yes. Windsurfers…yes. Yacht and sailors…yes. Fishermen…not so much.
But, it’s off-season. So, fishermen aren’t much expected anyway.
But, we did have some folks and I guess we just add-it-up-to-El-Nino…craziness. But, it’s the dead of winter and we caught BILLFISH! We’re not supposed to be catching billfish right now. Billfish time is when the water is warm and the weather is hot (relatively speaking). We’re supposed to catching “cold water fish” like sierra and pargo and cabrilla (sea bass).
Anyway, so we go out…and just outside of Muertos Bay…striped marlin and sailfish are hanging out! We’re pretty much talking a few hundred yards out. How long will they stay? What are they doing there? I have no idea. Just a fluke or not, no way to know. But fun fishing. No one complaining!
Winds blowing double digits early this coming week but later in the week, there’ll be some opportunities to get back on the water.
THANKS BILLINGS, MONTANA! NOW HEADED TO DENVER!

Tailhunter is on it’s 2016 road tour right now. We just finished their first show of the year at the Great Western Rockies Sport Show in Billing, Montana and had a super time and got to meet lots of new amigos. It was crazy cold down to subzero -12 degrees below zero one night. But, we sure had an incredible time and enjoyed the heck out’ve the show, but moreso all the great Montana folks. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality and we’ll see a bunch of you this year in La Paz to fish with us!
This week we head to the largest show in the area. We’ll be in Denver, Colorado at the Convention Center for the International Sportman’s Show. It runs Thursday to Sunday this week and will be a great time for the whole family with almost 700 vendors of camping, fishing, hunting, boating and other outdoor sports. Come see us and let’s talk about fishing in La Paz this year!
Here’s a link with all the details and how to purchase tickets online: Denver International Sportsmans Show Details
Hope to see you this week in Denver!
That’s our story!
