Joe Corbin from Ohio stuck this bad boy wahoo and got even more on the boat before noon.

Sysco is 7-years-old. He got his first marlin and gets a hand from Captain Pancho. Check out that flat blue ocean at Bahia de los Muertos

Like I said, it was a crazy week. A rare -caught Baja Golden Grouper by Gary Wagner, who owns the famous Giggling Marlin Restaurant in Cabo but was fishing out’ve his place at Muertos Bay.

Healthy PHAT yellowtail were also biting this week. Roger Thompson got this on on the troll. Hamachi for the barbecue!

Most of the marlin and sailfish hooked this week either got off or were released. This one was an attempted , but regretfully, unsuccessful release. The meat was not related.

One of our super-star anglers Roger Thompson with another big wahoo and another super photo!
WHOAAA! WHAT’S GOING ON HERE?
Ls Paz / Las Arenas-Muertos Bay Fishing Report for Week of Jan. 10-17, 2016
What’s going on? For the last 3 months the fishing has been so spotty because of strong winds every week that it’s been hard to get out to fish. Fishing has basically been a non-factor in anyone’s vacations!
But then this week…Whoaa! I even had trouble getting photos for the fishing reports but many thanks to amigos Gary Wagner and Roger Thompson for getting out on the water!
It’s all about the wind, like I’ve been saying.
The winds chilled out and calmed down. And the fish didn’t just bite. They blew up! And not the kind of fish we normally catch! This is WINTER! We’re supposed to be catching inshore rock fish like pargo, cabrilla, snapper and other species like bonito and jack crevalle.
What happened this week can only be chalked up to the unpredictable El Nino conditions . We had marlin…sailfish…yellowtail…rooster fish and a great bite on wahoo too!
The fish were literally not far out’ve Bahia de los Muertos and close to shore. As one angler said, “I’ve never seen so much bait in the bay this time of year!” Another of our anglers said he was trolling some Rapalas and they got 7 wahoo before 11 a.m. that morning and added yellowtail to the box as well. There’s apparently a ton of mackerel and ladyfish in the bay too so that is a great sign!
I have no idea how much of an anomaly this is or how long it will last, but it’s pretty exciting stuff! But a quick update…the winds started blowing again on Sunday. And no fish.
