Thanks to Gary Wagner, owner of the famous Giggling Marlin Restaurant in Cabo, who provided me with the pictures this week. Gary has a great place there in Bahia de los Muertos so he was on top of whatever fishing was happening. Here’s Gary with a big sierra. Makes great ceviche!

Another great eating fish is the pompano! One of the best sashime meats when sliced thin, but cooks up great too! Gary’s catch is another of the unusual fish we’ve been catching the last few weeks. Normally, we don’t see pompano until the spring!

One of the marlin hook-ups that got away. Great shot!

Whale watching season is here and the gray whales are filling up out there at Lopez Mateos in Bahia Magdalena. Amy Kasper gives us a big smile as two of the gentle animals come to check out the panga. The whales are gonna be around until about early March and we’re booking trips right now to spend some time out there at Bahia Magdalena. It’s a great once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the calm waters of the bay!

Thanks, Sacramento! We had a great show at the ISE which took place at the California State Fairgrounds from Thursday to Sunday. Thanks to everyone who visited me, Jill and Catlyn at the booth and signed up also to come visit us in La Paz. We’re on our way now to the Seattle area at the Puyallup State Fairgrounds. We’ll be there from Wednesday to Sunday! Come visit us and check out all the great fishing, hunting and outdoor activities and displays!
WINDS BACK LAST WEEK AND FISH TAKE THE WEEK OFF TOO
La Paz – Las Arenas/ Muertos Bay Fishing Report for Week of Jan. 17-24, 2016
Not really much to tell you this report. Last week for about the first time in 2 months the winds laid down over a series of days. The bait came up. The fish charged in. We had wahoo, yellowtail, sailfish and marlin ripping it off just a few hundred yards off the beach.
Then, Sunday came up and the winds came back and for the most part, fishing got stinky again. On the upside, not many fishermen this time of year, anyway. Some sierra, cabrilla, bonito and jack crevalle caught. More typical of this time of year. Two marlin hooked and lost. It’s crazy to even see marlin in the middle of winter!
This week is looking better. Tuesday and Wednesday will probably be too rough to fish, but the other days, the winds are moderate. Not great…but fishable. Air temps are really nice. High 70’s to high 50’s. Sun is out. Nice time to be in town!
THANK YOU SACRAMENTO – WASHINGTON HERE WE COME!

Bennett and Alicia Clegg came by the booth to set up their trip with their famlies to come fish in La Paz with us again and Alicia found out she’s our 2016 cover gal with the big rooster she caught last year! Congratulations!

Here’s trouble! Talk about Talhunter Tribal Members…a big toast to these amigos who have all been to La Paz many times with us and all set up new trips for 2016. You guys are the best!

You probably won’t find funner or more enthusiastic amigos than Darryl and Kathy Pietak who are coming back to see us in La Paz this summer! Darryle always sports one of our Tailhunter shirts!

BFF’s! Catlyn joins Jilly and our bestest amiga, Carrie Wilson from the Department of Fish and Wildlife. These two / three can be a fun handful in our booth.

“We just stopped for a quick tequila…” That’s how it starts…in our booth at Sacramento! They visit us every year! Cheers, boys!
Whew! What a week and boy did we have fun at the International Sportsmans Expo at the California State Fairgrounds this past week! The show as off-the-hook, super! Jill and I were hoarse at the end of each of the 4 days as our aisles were packed and our booth was just a buzz of amigos and clients! It was surely a party and thank you to all of you who came to visit and say hi. Great to see so many of you and thanks for the hospitality, especially all of you Tailhunter Tribal members who added to our caloric intake with goodies like candies, cookies, teriyaki chicken, sushi, Chinese pork buns, bottles of wine and tequila…you all rock!
Also thanks to all of you who booked trips to come see us in 2016. We’re looking forward to your visit and I’ll start growing the fish bigger for you!
We’re on our way now north. We’re actually in the van and Jill is driving so I can type! We’ve got 1 1/2 days to get to the Seattle area to set up for the Northwest Sportsmans Show at the Puyallup, Washington Fairgrounds. This is another massive show and will go FIVE days from Wednesday to Sunday. Come by and say hi….check out our new brochure and Tailhunter T-shirts. Let’s talk about fishing in La Paz with Tailhunter this year! Hope to see you!
CELEBRITY ALERT at our TAILHUNTER RESTAURANT

Yes, it’s him! Mr. Charlie Sheen (“Two And A Half Men”) stopped by last week and had Benny cook him up some of our famous teriyaki tacos. Charlie told Benny, they were the “best ever!” Muchas gracias! Never know who will walk in!
That’s our story!
